Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). The couple relocated to Oxfordshire at the age of five where she attended an academy called the Dragon School. Emma was just six when she decided she wanted to be an actor. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford where she studied acting and singing. At the age of 10, she had already taken part in many Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The film adaptation from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was filmed for first time at the beginning of 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting agent through her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times they and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's screen debut came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in 2001. It beat all previous records in terms of its opening and weekend ticket sales, and it was the top-grossing 2001 film. The film was praised by critics and the performances of the three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British paper, praised her for her performance. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for a Feature Film. Emma was nominated five times for her role in the movie.
